Favourite Architects

Here is a list of architects I admire the most.

Here is the list:

-Louis Baragan is maybe the first architect who really impressed me in the second year at the school of architecure, I remember digging the internet to find more about him. Well, I can sum up his work to Architecture of Silence.

-Herzog & de Meuron because they have a subtle sense of context that amazes me every time they build something new. Bird's Nest is one of best known building and it is as wonderful as they say. I have visited it and I didn't want to go out.

-Peter Zumthor because the Vals Thermal Baths are just amazing. The firm line that "induce" serendipity and relaxation, the materials that blend into the rocky landscape. It is a place I plan to go before I will really need to go. :)
Bruder Klaus Chapel is another breathtaking building. The technical aproach itself is ingenious, but the esthetic result is as considerable as the effort of  molding 50cm contrete layer by layer and burning the encasing logs inside it.

-Tadao Ando because I haven't seen an architect to play better with the light as he does.

-Toyo Ito mainly because of very well structured functions inside his buildings.

-BIG approaches projects in an innovative and joyful manner.

 The list will continue, these are the one who came though my mind at once.

Porta Volta Fondazione Feltrinelli de Herzog & de Meuron

Noul sediu al Fundatiei Fertrinelli este proiectat de arhitectii elvetieni Herzog & de Meuron.

Situl se afla in Nordul Centrului Istoric al Milanului, pe locul unui bastion al portii de aparare din sec. XV. 

Prin acest proiect se doreste revigorarea zonei Porta Volta cu spatii publice: de intalnire, zone verzi, alei pentru biciclete si pietoni. Este un exemplu bun de conlucrare a spatiului privat cu cel public.

Sectiunea elansata pare sa prea silueta gotica a Domului din Milano, desi seamana si cu profilul casei Rudin de aceiasi arhitecti. Ritmul repetitiv nu inspira monotonie datorita transparentei, in spatele cladirii este proiectata o zona verde.. Complexul va fi compus din 3 cladiri, doua vor functiona ca o poarta ce vor constinui un punct de referinta in oras.

Urmeaza sa vedem cum va iesi proiectul in faza finala, acesta se preconizeaza sa fie terminat in 2013.

2_houses in Tokyo

2 casute pe care le-am zarit astazi. Beton prefabricat, buget redus, minimalism japonez.
